Among the actions that demonstrate our firm commitment to the Andean country, we have completed one year since our entry into the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Chile (CAMACOES). After our official presentation in March, we have been able to share experiences with the rest of the Spanish companies that work for the progress of Transports in Chile, carrying out different projects:
End of the Study and Economic Evaluation of Improvement of the Branch between the Arenal Station and the Port of San Vicente, Puertos de Talcahuano.
The Consultrans-CDI consortium has carried out this study with the aim of optimizing the rail mode of freight in the section of El Arenal Station, with the interior of the port area of Puertos de Talcahuano.
The Port of San Vicente has land accessibility through rail and road connectivity. The latter has a strategic position to give access to export and import products from the south central zone of Chile, especially considering that Concepción is an important city within the Andean country, which makes it an attractive pole of marketing and distribution.
At the time of executing the project, the first thing was to validate the scenario proposed in its previous stage, to later develop the preliminary draft of measures to be implemented and generate the social and private evaluation of the selected alternatives at the prefeasibility level.
All of the above will allow Empresa Portuaria Talcahuano-San Vicente to continue with the next stages of the project, to best meet the cargo demand forecast for the coming years and continue with the development of port and logistics infrastructure and technology, and thus achieve efficient and competitive levels of services, in coordination with the public-private value chain.
Basic engineering, civil works and railway systems for metro extension Valparaíso to Quillota and Calera, EFE
In May, Chile's Environmental Assessment Service, SEA, declared admissible our Environmental Impact Study for the Extension of the Train to Quillota, La Cruz and La Calera, which we developed as part of the Consultrans-CDI consortium for Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado.
This allows us to start the formal evaluation process of this great project that continues to advance in the Valparaíso region, with 26 km of tracks, 5 new stations and 15 new trains.
The development of this infrastructure will extend the connectivity and environmental advantages of the train to the beneficiary population. The operation of the service will allow significant savings in travel times and greater safety in the movements of all passengers.

Interlocks’ new functionalities will be integrated into the CTC of Seville.
RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURES. With our new Director, Eduardo Laureano, we have executed during the year, among others, the following projects:
Drafting of the construction projects for the renovation of the lane in the Martorell-Sant Vicenç de Calders and Sant Vicenç de Calders-Vilaseca sections, and the replacement of detours at the Vilaseca junction
Both actions are framed within the adaptation of the Mediterranean Corridor to house circulations of both Iberian and standard gauge within the framework of the Infrastructure and Housing Plan of the Ministry of Development (PTIVI) 2012 -2024, in order to promote the transport of goods and incorporation of corridors and backbone nodes within the Trans-European transport network.
The first of the actions is made up of the second phase of the works, currently in execution, to implement standard gauge in the Sant Vicenç de Calders – Vilaseca and Sant Vicenç de Calders – Martorell sections, 69.5 km and 49.1 km long respectively, for which the two external rail wires will be replaced. The new lanes to be installed will be of the same typology 54 E1 as those reused in the previous phase.
The second is located at the Vilaseca junction, consisting of two railway branches that connect the recently built Vandellós bypass with line 210 Miraflores – Sant Vicenç de Calders. The existing P1 type deviations will be replaced by new mixed-gauge ones, adjusting the platform and track geometry according to the new deviations to be installed.
Drafting of the preliminary project of the new building to house the future centralized traffic control center (CTC) of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana in Valencia Sud
The purpose of the contract is to carry out, in the current deterrent parking area, attached to FGV's facilities, the preliminary project of a multi-story building to house the new CTC and the different complementary spaces that meet FGV's current needs.
The Preliminary Project will also define the urbanization and adaptation of the environment to integrate this building into FGV's current facilities, and the study of a new backup CTC for emergency situations of the future main CTC.
The new CTC will mean an improvement in FGV's service coverage through the optimization of processes, and homogenization in the use of management tools and collaboration with those responsible for the facilities, in the coordination of activities.
In addition, an improvement in quality and technification will be achieved in the provision of services to its customers and an increase in efficiency, by facilitating actions to save on operating costs.
Drafting of the Construction Project of the improvement actions in the surroundings of the Jaén station.
In collaboration with the City Council of Jaén, we will promote the integration of the train station with the city, improving accessibility for travelers arriving on foot or by road. In a complementary way, we will carry out the study and rehabilitation of the existing underpass in Fuerte del Rey street, the current limit of the urban area.
Both actions will result in the optimization of mobility and communications within the city of Jaén.
TRANSPORT: We resume our activity in road projects with the help of our new director Daniel Esteban, as well as undertake sustainable mobility actions
Project for the Layout and Construction of the N-232 Road from Vinaroz to Santander (PK 368+500 to 373+100). Section: Variant of Villar de Arnedo (La Rioja).
This project is part of the improvement actions of one of the most important road cross-cutting axes in Spain, the Vinaroz-Santander. The objective is to design the duplication of the existing road during the 7 km in length, as it passes through the municipality of Villar de Arnedo, allowing maximum speeds of 120 km / h through a road with 2 roads of 7 m, external verges of 2.5 m and variable median, which is intended to reduce traffic in the urban area, as well as the capture of long-distance traffic for users who wish to avoid the AP-68 toll motorway. All this will help improve mobility and quality of life, as well as road safety, not only for residents but also for La Rioja in general. From the environmental point of view, and aligned with the values of Consultrans, special attention is paid to minimizing environmental effects considering, among others, measures such as the design of the special passage for deer and large mammals, which is colloquially called "highway for deer".
In the last part of the year, the Layout Project was delivered, and the indications contained in the road safety supervision and audit reports were corrected, being now in the approval phase.

Design of the Sleepers factory
The factory located in Lugazi will produce 208 sleepers/day, necessary for the renovation of the Kampala-Namanve-Mukono section. In total there will be 47,180 prestressed sleepers of reinforced concrete and metric gauge for UIC-54 rail, whose manufacture is part of a project that undoubtedly constitutes a railway reference for the entire African continent.
-Kurdistan
In 2022 we have carried out the feasibility study for the establishment of a railway network in the Kurdistan Region (Iraq), awarded by the Ministry of Construction and Housing of Kurdistan (MOCAH).
This study, which considers the implementation of several rail corridors, with a total length of approximately 1,100 km, will allow to establish excellent connections for the transport of goods mainly and passengers, between main cities, such as Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, connecting with other parts within the region and the rest of Iraq, and playing an important role of transit between neighbouring countries.
There are currently no railway infrastructures or reference projects in the region, so this project is a historic milestone that will lay the foundations for the future implementation of the railway in Kurdistan and for its socio-economic development.
As an important part of the project, a demand and traffic study is being drafted, which is supported by traffic gauging data and surveys, both of roadside freight traffic, and of the main industries throughout the Kurdistan Region. This will allow a very accurate model of current demand (passengers and freight) of international and regional flows, to estimate potential demand and assess the socio-economic and financial profitability of the future rail network.
Likewise, a large part of the routes of the lines considered have been developed, proposing a technical solution for the railway network and that serves as the basis for the operations plan and the environmental and social impact studies. Similarly, with the complete definition of the routes, the tunnels, viaducts and main necessary infrastructures have been determined that, together with the definition of the stations and intermodal connections, maintenance workshops and train propulsion system, will lead to the estimation of the construction costs of the railway infrastructure included in CAPEX
-Mexico
